This Saturday afternoon, FC Barcelona hosted Girona as part of the 9th day of La Liga. The Spanish champion was the first to open the scoring in this derby. In the 13th minute, Pedri let his talent speak for itself. Served by Lamine Yamal, the Catalan metronome skilfully eliminated Daley Blind in the opposing penalty area and finished with a low left-footed shot from the opposite angle (1-0).

Sánchez Muñoz's men responded quickly. Seven minutes later, it was Axel Witsel's turn to tie the two teams. On a corner on the left, Arnau Martinez beat Yamal to head Witsel. The Belgian defender, with his back to goal, sent an acrobatic volley with his right foot which ended in the Barcelona net (1-1, 20th).

Araújo completes Girona

The score remained unchanged for a long time in the second half. But the Blaugrana's salvation came in the final minutes thanks to Ronald Araújo. Entering the game in the 80th minute, the Uruguayan central defender delivered his team in added time. On a cross from the right, Araújo emerged to resume with a right-footed cross shot (2-1, 90+3).

This result allows Barça to reduce the gap with Real Madrid. At the top of La Liga, Casa Blanca had a two-point lead before this match. However, she will have the opportunity to widen the gap this Sunday in the event of victory on the Getafe pitch.
