After a disastrous start to the season under the leadership of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United is accelerating its new stadium project. The English club, led in part by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, hopes to acquire new land around Old Trafford in order to complete the construction of its future stadium with around 100,000 seats, announced for 2030 according to the Daily Mail. Designed by the British architect Lord Norman Foster, the project nicknamed “ New Trafford » is intended to be emblematic, visible from more than 40 kilometers away.
But a major obstacle persists: the club does not yet have all the necessary land. Part of the site belongs to a Marseille billionaire linked to Turki Alalshikh, close to the Saudi government. Despite this, Manchester United wants to be confident. During the last forum with supporters, management assured that it was “in constructive discussions with neighboring owners” and hopes to reach an agreement “in the coming months” to finally concretely launch this colossal project.
