Behind the scenes, the link between Yohan Cabaye, director of the PSG training center, and Luis Campos, sports director, would sometimes be fragile. Several center employees speak of a “lack of dialogue” and disagreements over the management of young players according to the newspaper The Team. Some even speak of “tensions” between the two men, to the point of evoking the existence of “Cabaye contracts” and of “Campos contracts”. In fact, each negotiates on their own without always consulting the other. A situation revealing the communication difficulties between training and sports management, despite the efforts undertaken to strengthen the bridge between the two entities.
The club denies any disagreement. Management claims that there is a “desire for change” within the training, which could explain certain internal rumors. “Yohan is supported by the president”specifies a source close to the club. Moreover, Campos and Cabaye recently collaborated to convince the young Quentin Ndjantou to extend his contract with PSG, proof that cooperation remains, despite everything, possible. But behind this displayed unity, the different sensitivities and working methods of the two leaders continue to fuel internal discussions. Even if the promotion of Ndjantou and Jangeal was not a problem, that of Khafi and Slama a little more. “We weren’t even asked for our opinion. We were all surprised for Yanis, who still has progress to make. But Mathieu Le Scornet and Yohan Cabaye did not want Wassim to ride, because he was not in the physical condition to do so. He was just coming back from injury”said a source at the training center.
