Particularly active during this transfer window, with more than 500 million euros spent, Liverpool are already thinking of relaunching on the market. This summer, the English champion has certainly strengthened his forward position and the corridors of his defense, but not all positions are yet filled.

The departure of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich was not compensated, leaving Cody Gakpo with the young Rio Ngumouha as his only backup. The Mersey club would therefore have checked several names to complete its squad. After Bradley Barcola, it is therefore the turn of Athletic Bilbao left winger, Nico Williams, to see his name linked to the Reds.

Liverpool wants to avoid price rises

According to the Spanish press, Liverpool would like to complete this transfer before the 2026 World Cup. The objective would be to prevent the player's exposure during the tournament from increasing his price.

Under contract until June 2035, Nico Williams has a release clause of 90 million euros, while the Reds hope to finalize the operation for 70 million. It is to be seen whether the Basque leaders will agree to let their star leave after having extended him this summer, while he was also in discussions with FC Barcelona.
