The Lukaku brothers denounce an extortion attempt over their father's body

Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku and his brother Jordan Lukaku have expressed their deep sorrow after facing extortion attempts over the repatriation of the body of their father, Roger Lukaku, who died on September 28 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. In a joint statement shared on social media, the two brothers revealed that their efforts to organize a funeral in Belgium had been hampered by individuals refusing to return their father's body, thereby subjecting them to financial pressure. Romelu Lukaku expressed that their father would not have accepted such a situation, highlighting the moral suffering inflicted on their family.

Roger Lukaku, a former Congolese international footballer who played in Belgium, played for clubs such as KV Mechelen, Germinal Ekeren and KV Oostende. After his sporting career, he went through difficult times, including a 2013 conviction for domestic violence. He died at the age of 58, leaving behind two sons, Romelu and Jordan, both professional footballers. Romelu Lukaku, deleted all his publications on Instagram, leaving only those of him and his father.
