It was one of the most striking images of the 2012-2013 season: a furious Eden Hazard, trying to recover a ball, ended up hitting a young ball boy. The episode went around the world and earned the Belgian an immediate expulsion, then a three-match suspension. That evening, no one could imagine that the Swansea “ball boy” would, a few years later, build an empire.

Eden Hazard's “balloon boy” is now worth 170 million euros

His name: Charlie Morgan. The son of a manager of the Welsh club, he was 17 years old at the time of the incident. Twelve years later, he is at the head of a fortune estimated at 170 million euros thanks to his vodka brand “Au Vodka”, co-founded with his friend Jackson Quinn. Starting from a simple local project in Swansea, the company has grown into a global brand, present at the biggest parties in Ibiza and in the United States.

From victim to tycoon: the revenge of Eden Hazard’s “balloon boy”

The dazzling success of the brand owes a lot to its luxurious image and star marketing: Ronaldinho, Floyd Mayweather and even… Eden Hazard posed with the famous golden bottles. Ironically, the two men, long opposed in archive images, are today reconciled and image partners.

A revenge on destiny

Morgan, ranked among England's richest young entrepreneurs, now sells 35,000 bottles a day. While Hazard enjoyed his retirement, his former “adversary” experienced a spectacular rise. So, sometimes a twist of fate can really change everything.
