It’s an open secret in France. While Didier Deschamps will leave his position as coach at the end of the 2026 World Cup, Zinedine Zidane is the natural choice. Adored by all French people and respected for his coaching career, including three Champions Leagues won with Real Madrid, Zizou ticks all the boxes. Obviously, this is far from being confirmed at the moment and it would be better not to announce it publicly before Deschamps' final meeting with the Blues.

In the meantime, Zidane is enjoying his free time. Having recently joined forces with the Kings League, the famous number 10 is present at many events. This Sunday, the 1998 Ballon d'Or was present at the Trento sports festival. In Italy, where he is very respected for his time as a player at Juventus Turin, Zidane had a large platform to be able to take stock of his professional situation and his desires for the future.

“One of my goals is to coach the French team,” explains Zidane

And the least we can say is that Zinedine Zidane knows very well what he wants for his next experience. Indeed, when asked about his future bench, the football legend clearly explained that he was waiting for the French team: “I will definitely come back to coach. Me at Juventus? I don't know why it didn't happen. I always have him in my heart, because he gave me so much. Later, I don't know, but one of my goals is to coach the French team. We'll see.»

An unequivocal exit which will not fail to make this takeover more than obvious. Without a club since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has therefore waited patiently for his turn on the bench of the French team and everything is now converging towards his appointment to take over from Didier Deschamps within a few months.
