The Faroe Islands are offering themselves a great one from Europe!

It seems there are no more small teams when it comes to football. Whether this statement is true or not, what is certain is that the Faroe Islands no longer belong to this category. The archipelago located between Great Britain and Iceland continues to surprise during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After equaling the largest success in its history by beating Montenegro (4-0), which is usually far from being a foil, the Faroe Islands team took the scalp of the Czech Republic (2-1) this Sunday.

Can the Faroes believe it?

Defender of Triglav (Slovenia), Hanus Sorensen gave his team the advantage (67th). After the equalizer from Lyon's Adam Karabec (78th), Martin Agnarsson, the player from Aarhus (Denmark), scored the winning goal (81st).

With 12 points, the Faroe Islands are one step behind Croatia (which has two matches in hand) and the Czech Republic. But the Czechs will face Gibraltar on the final day in November, while the Faroe Islands will have to go to Croatia, making their qualification for the play-offs very unlikely. The overall journey, nevertheless, remains remarkable!
