Zlatan Ibrahimović has found his place behind the scenes. Since the end of his playing career, the Swedish legend has held a special position at AC Milan that has intrigued the world of football. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibra finally lifted the veil on the exact nature of his role within the Rossonero club and the reasons which pushed him to accept this position.

Ibrahimovic, RedBird property representative

“I represent the property”Ibrahimović declares bluntly. The Swede became an advisor and partner of RedBird Capital, the American investment fund that owns the club. A role that goes well beyond the simple consultant, since it is also involved in “the corporate and entertainment side of RedBird”. A versatility that perfectly matches his personality.

But Ibra set his conditions before accepting: “I asked three things. One: be myself, because no one can change me. Two: if I come, it's for a long-term project. Three: I'm coming back to win. » Non-negotiable demands which testify to his strong character and his intact ambition for the Milanese club.

“I didn’t want an office”

The Swede refuses to be confined within a traditional framework: “I don’t want to be put in a box. That's why I didn't want an office. I go to the people I need to talk to. »
This informal approach corresponds to his philosophy: observe, learn in areas he is less familiar with, and express himself strongly where his experience counts.

Ibrahimović admits to having exceeded his specifications last season, particularly in transfer decisions and the recruitment of coaches:
“Last year I did more than I was supposed to. Nobody asked me. I just felt like I had to do it. » A total involvement which proves that Zlatan remains Zlatan, even in a suit.
