The Geoffroy-Guichard stadium is preparing to experience an exceptional moment this Saturday, October 18 during the reception of Mans FC. Saint-Etienne supporters, faithful to their legendary reputation, converge massively on the legendary Chaudron for what could become a memorable evening. According to the latest information, the ticketing is a resounding success and the attendance is expected to well exceed 30,000 spectators. A figure which actually hides an unprecedented feat in the century-old history of the Greens.

This will in fact be the 25th consecutive time that ASSE has crossed the symbolic threshold of 30,000 spectators, thus establishing an absolute record which would even surpass the performances of the glorious 1960s-1970s. This exceptional series began with the last seven matches of the 2023-24 season under Olivier Dall'Oglio, continued with the thirteen Ligue 1 matches of the previous year, and continues brilliantly with the first five home matches of the current season.

A unique performance in French football

This remarkable consistency testifies to a rare phenomenon in French football. Even during Saint-Etienne's golden age, attendances of more than 30,000 people were exceptional. Today, despite developments in Ligue 2, ASSE maintains figures that make many elite clubs green with envy.

Saint-Étienne: the Cauldron will shatter all attendance records

The Foréz club largely dominates the Ligue 2 attendance statistics with 134,023 spectators accumulated over four matches and an average of 33,506 supporters per match. An abysmal gap with its direct competitors: the second in the ranking, Bastia, displays “only” 33,765 spectators accumulated over the season.

This exceptional loyalty of the green people is also illustrated by the record of 20,000 subscribers established this summer, an unprecedented figure for a Ligue 2 club. The renewal rate is around 99% on both kops, confirming the unwavering attachment of supporters to their team, transcending sporting results and divisions.
