On Wednesday, the Spanish Football Federation confirmed that Huijsen had been forced to withdraw from Luis de la Fuente's upcoming matches against Georgia and Bulgaria. He was replaced by Aymeric Laporte, from Athletic Club.
“Dean Huijsen is absent from the national team training camp due to injury to play in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia in Elche and Bulgaria in Valladolid. »
“The Real Madrid defender arrived at the Spanish national team training camp on Monday evening with symptoms of muscle fatigue. On Tuesday, he did not train and his club was informed that the development was not positive. On Wednesday morning, he underwent a medical examination confirming a muscle injury of which Real Madrid had already been informed. He is therefore summoned and we wish him a speedy recovery. »
Shortly after, Real released a medical report on Huijsen, revealing that he had been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the soleus of his left leg.

How long will Huijsen be out?
Huijsen has played a key role for Xabi Alonso since arriving from AFC Bournemouth in June, but is expected to be out for a short period. However, this absence will only be short-lived: Diario AS reports that he is only expected to be out for the next 12 to 15 days. If that's the case, he'll definitely miss the game against Getafe, and maybe Juventus too, but most importantly, he'll be fit for the Clasico.
It has been a difficult period for Real Madrid in terms of defensive injuries. Huijsen joined Dani Carvajal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy in intensive care, meaning Alonso is currently on rest.
