The task is not as easy as expected. A few days ago rumors appeared that AS Monaco coach Adi Hütter would be dismissed from his position by next week. A decision which leaves the club with very little time to find a replacement.
At the start of the week, Monegasque leaders explored several avenues. Particularly the one leading to Edin Terzic. The former Borussia Dortmund coach, free of any contract, ticked all the boxes (availability, quality, vision of the game). But it seems that the German-Croatian tactician was not convinced by the project proposed by Monaco.
Discussions are therefore at a standstill with Terzic, and the clock is ticking. The Monegasque club explores the possibilities, tries things like with Thiago Motta, but is refused again for the same reasons. A pattern that would be changing, with a new favorite according to the newspaper The Team.
A new priority target in Belgium
According to the French daily, AS Monaco have set their sights on Sébastien Pocognoli. A name well known to Jupiler Pro League fans since he is the coach of Union Saint-Gilloise. Only 38 years old, the Belgian has a very promising profile. Arriving on the bench of the Brussels club in July 2024, Pocognoli quite simply won the title of Belgian champion during his very first season as coach.
Enough to seduce the red and white leaders, who, always according to The Teamwould have organized an interview with the former left side of the Red Devils this Wednesday. An interview which would have ended in negotiations. It now remains to convince Sébastien Pocognoli and his club Union Saint-Gilloise, who still has one year of contract remaining.
