The time has come for warming up between the leaders of Barcelona and Paris. This Wednesday, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Joan Laporta hugged each other and were all smiles when greeting each other on the sidelines of the meeting of the EFC (European Football Clubs, formerly known as the ECA) which was held in Rome.
The Parisian president had a very good reason to smile: Barça would have decided to abandon the Superleague project and would be preparing to return to the fold of the EFC. “The president of the EFC invited us. We quietly accepted the invitation. There is a very good relationship with Al-Khelaïfi. We are for the peace of European football,” confided Joan Laporta to this effect, adding: “We want to find an agreement and return to UEFA. This is what all clubs want. Coming here allows you to generate good things. »
But Joan Laporta and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi could very quickly have a new subject of anger. According to Defensa Central, PSG would indeed be decided to recruit Lamine Yamal during the next summer transfer window. And to achieve their goals, the European champions do not intend to spare any expense.
Lamine Yamal has a billion clause
According to the specialist site, the capital club would be ready to offer 230 million euros to Barça. Which would be more than the 222 million spent in 2017 to snatch Neymar from the Blaugrana and would make the Spanish prodigy the most expensive player in history.
However, these 230 million euros are nevertheless very far from the amount of the release clause of the Catalan nugget, set at one billion euros when it was extended last spring until 2031. Despite the enormous financial difficulties facing Barça, with a cumulative debt of around 500 million euros, the Barcelona leaders have the upper hand and risk opposing an end to failure to receive the Parisian camp.
