Loaned this summer to Tottenham after an average stint in Germany, at Bayern Munich, the former Fulham midfielder did not convince Vincent Kompany. However, he was transferred for more than 50 million euros. But with competition from Kimmich, Goretzka and Pavlovic, the Portuguese only started 9 small matches during the 2024-2025 financial year.

Freshly selected by Roberto Martinez for the October meeting with Portgual, João Palhinha spoke openly about his difficult period at Bayern Munich. Injury and lack of playing time also affected his role in the national team: “I didn’t have the chance I deserved at Bayern”. Strong words which show that he did not seem to have the same opinion as Vincent Kompany on his performances. Now, the 30-year-old player is playing in the Premier League, at Tottenham, and is establishing himself as an important element of Thomas Frank.
