Traveling to Rome this Wednesday, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, took part in the meeting of the EFC (European Football Clubs), formerly European Club Association. The Catalan leader was invited by his counterpart from Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, on the sidelines of the last Barça-PSG (1-2) in the Champions League – the latter also being the president of the association's union.

“The president of the EFC invited us. We quietly accepted the invitation”explained Laporta in an interview with El Chiringuito, before adding that he maintains “a very good relationship with Al-Khelaïfi”. A statement which illustrates a clear warming between the two clubs, long in the cold during the era of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Real Madrid abandoned

Long an active supporter of the Super League project, supported by Real Madrid and Juventus, the Spanish champion now seems to have taken a new turn. The slogan is clear, act hand in hand with other clubs and UEFA.

“We are for the peace of European football. We want to find an agreement and return to UEFA. This is what all clubs want. Coming here allows you to generate good things”concluded Laporta.
