When he arrived at AC Milan in 2022, Divock Origi (30 years old) surely did not think he would experience such a misadventure. Arriving from Liverpool, the club with which he won the Champions League in 2019, the ex-Reds supersub did not really shine during the 2022/2023 season (2 goals, 1 assist in 36 matches). What the Belgian international (32 caps, 3 goals) did not know, however, was that he would no longer play in the first team.

Loaned to Nottingham Forest in 2023/2024, Origi was not more effective for his return to the Premier League (0 goals, 1 assist in 20 matches). Under contract until 2026, the striker therefore logically returned to Milan. But there, the second disappointment. Having become an advisor to the Lombard club, Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent the Belgian to the youth team. “Origi and Ballo-Touré are called up, but at Milano Futuro. They are not part of the first team project.

Paid €4 million net per year without playing

Shelved since 2024, Origi has therefore only played 1,187 minutes in the Milan jersey since 2022, or around thirty minutes per match (he only played 36). And his last appearance in Serie A dates back to May 28, 2023 against Juventus (4 minutes played). Finally, the player hasn't even been training in Milan lately, but in Florence or Rome. A totally lunar situation since Divock Origi is quite simply the best paid player in the Rossonero squad! With his net annual €4 million, the former Red earns more money than legend Luka Modric and the latest recruit, Adrien Rabiot.

Faced with this situation, we revealed to you exclusively this summer that AC Milan was already working on a contract termination and that the player had leads in the Middle East (Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia), Greece, Russia, Serbia and the Italian Serie B. In the end, Origi didn't move. This evening, the Gazzetta dello Sport assures that Milan are finally on the way to resolving this problem and that only the final legal details remain to sign this separation. No information on the financial details of the deal has leaked, but Milan will remember for a long time one of the biggest flops in the club's history.
