Rafa Mir, a Spanish striker on loan from Sevilla FC to the Elche club, was indicted for rape by a court in the Valencia region. He is accused of having twice raped a young woman he met in a nightclub in September 2024, after bringing her home. Despite these accusations, he was placed on conditional release and no request for pre-trial detention was made. The facts allegedly occurred on the night of September 1, at the player's home in Bétera, notably in the swimming pool and a bathroom.
Another footballer, the Chilean Pablo Jara, is also indicted for sexual assault without penetration and physical violence against a second woman, in the same circumstances and in the same place. “There are indications and not mere suspicion that Rafa MV sexually assaulted on two occasions one of the two young women that he, Pablo JG and another friend had met before in a nightclub in Valencia”police sources indicated to theAFP. The two players are summoned before the judge on October 13, with Rafa Mir having to testify by videoconference. The latter, once considered a great hope in Spanish football, was arrested on September 2, 2024, before being released after two days in police custody.
