Cameroon finally qualified?

Cameroon can still dream of the World Cup! This Wednesday took place the 9th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for Group D of the Africa zone. And victory was imperative for the Indomitable Lions, in a very bad position before their meeting against Mauritius.

Cameroon was in fact second in its group, four lengths behind Cape Verde. Opposite, the leader was moving to Libya, hoping to maintain his lead over his runner-up. Marc Brys' men had to bank on a Cape Verdean misstep, in addition to winning the match against the Mauritians, in order to hope to narrowly qualify. And for the moment, the scenario is (almost) ideal…

Cameroon two points from the World Cup

Thanks to their 2-0 victory, the fifth in nine matches, the Cameroonians remain second but climb to 18 points and maintain the suspense in this group D. Conversely, the bad operation of the day is to be credited to Cape Verde, held in check by the Libyans (3-3), but came back to the score after being led 3-1 in the 58th minute. Only two points now separate the two teams.

Everything will therefore be decided on the 10th and final day, Monday November 13 at 6 p.m. The Indomitable Lions will face Angola, fourth in the ranking and already condemned, while hoping for a new poor performance from the Blue Sharks, this time against the last, Eswatini.
