Pascal Praud had several professional lives. And this one, by its own admission, is not the most successful. After having long been a sports journalist, the native of Nantes was an ephemeral deputy managing director of the club of his city, as adviser to President Waldemar Kita, then at the start of his mandate.

The Magazine Team devotes a long format to this period (between January 2008 and February 2010) which belongs to the sad legend of FC Nantes under the Kita era. And Pascal Praud tells in particular the reasons which pushed him to change jobs.

“At TF1, I was on a garage path,
he explains today. Thierry Gilardi arrives, I am fired from Telefoot In December 2003, I worked for television news. I cover Euro 2004, the 2006 World Cup, but I get bored. I earn my life very well, I remember that my last salary was 9,000 euros. But I want to move. »»

Pascal Praud then receives Kita's proposal in Nantes, and negotiates a good starting allowance at TF1. At the FCN, he also earns his life well, but he does not show himself up.
“Jhe multiplies my salary by two, I have a position apartment, a car. This proves that you should never do things for money. »»

“It was humiliating,” admits Praud

His visit to Nantes is a flop. Pascal Praud was notably in charge of communication and marketing, and he was therefore in touch with the club's following journalists. The current went very badly with its former colleagues.

“I did not have the codes, I did not trust my judgment, I was not good, I knew it, and it was quite humiliating. But this experience is the one that served me the most in my life on the human level. I understood that my job was journalism, I like to belong to a writing, I like to speak with journalists. I thought I was dead in the trade, but I was very lucky, the 2010 World Cup allowed me to bounce back, and I came back with twice as much desire as before. »»

We know the rest. Pascal Praud returned as a journalist in sport, on RTL and Itelé first. He now officiates on CNews and Europe 1, to analyze politics and society, which allows the team to present it as a “Symbol of the ultra-reactionary right in the media of Vincent Bolloré”.
