Manchester City won a precious victory Sunday evening in Brentford (0-1), during the 7ᵉ day of the Premier League. In a disputed and tactically tight meeting, it was Erling Haaland who made the difference, scoring the only goal of the match for the Citizens at the start of the game (0-1, 9th). But if the three points have returned to the Pep Guardiola team, the shadow of bad news on the club: Rodri's injury.

The Spanish midfielder, essential in the Mancunian midfield, was forced to leave the field after only twenty minutes of play. Obviously affected, Rodri left the lawn by boxing before reaching the locker room directly. This new incident relaunches concerns around its right knee, already weakened by a rupture of the previous cross ligament which occurred in September 2024, an injury which had removed it from the field for almost eight months.

For Manchester City, the situation is worrying. Rodri is a central element of the Guardiola system, capable of stabilizing the team and imposing the pace in the middle. Its availability for the coming weeks remains uncertain, and the Citizens will have to consider alternatives to maintain their solidity in the midfield, while the Calendar of the Premier League promises to be demanding, with several high intensity games to come.

Rodri on the ground

Despite this hard blow, Manchester City showed its ability to temporarily do without its Spanish pivot, predecessor of Ousmane Dembélé at the Ballon d'Or. Haaland, once again decisive, proved that he was able to settle the matches alone, while the defense and the midfielder were able to contain Brentford's offensives.

If victory is a good operation for the title race, Rodri's injury may dominate Mancunian news in the coming days. The club's medical staff will have to be vigilant, and the supporters hope that this new episode will not relaunch an extended period of absence for their star of Star.
