Ibrahima Konaté was forced to leave his teammates before the time of play during the shock between Liverpool and Chelsea this Saturday in the Premier League (1-2). Reds coach Arne Slot said after the meeting that the French central defender suffered from a thigh pain.

The Dutch coach admitted not to have wanted to take a risk. “He felt embarrassment at the quadriceps, which immediately sounded the alert for me,” said. If the match had continued like this, I might have made the change a little later, but I did not want to take a risk ”he explained.

Already numerous absences among the Blues

For the moment, Konaté's participation in the next Rally of Blues does not seem compromised. He is among the 23 tricolor internationals selected by Didier Deschamps for qualification matches at the 2026 World Cup against Azerbaijan and Iceland, October 10 and 13.

Note that the Bayonnais technician must already deal with several absences. Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Marcus Thuram and Rayan Cherki are all four injured.
