The suspense was not immense, but it is now concrete. There is one of the sons of Zinedine Zidane, one of the biggest players in the history of French football (if not the biggest), in the last list of the Algerian selection.
It was expected, insofar as the Algerian federation had communicated on the change in nationality of sportswoman of Luca Zidane, aged 27, and passed by the French teams of young people (U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20). The Granada goalkeeper, in the Spanish second division, appears well in the list communicated by Vladimir Petkovic for meetings against Somalia and Uganda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
For the holder's place, Luca Zidane will compete with Alexis Guendouz (MC Algiers) and Osama Benbot (USM Alger), two players who play in the country. It was Guendouz who was aligned for the latest Greens meetings.
Zidane and several Ligue 1 players among the Greens
In Petkovic's list, there are a total of three other new ones, including Samir Chergui, the Paris FC player. Rafik Belghali (Hellas Verone) and Mehdi Dorval (Bari) are the other arrivals in the Algerian group.
There are also several other elements of Ligue 1, namely Aissa Mandi and Nabil Bentaleb (Lille), Hicham Boudaoui (Nice), Ilan Kebbal (Paris FC) and Amine Gouiri (Marseille).
