For reasons of pride, but also fear, Kevin Gameiro never wanted to wear the colors of OM.

Last March, Kevin Gameiro officially announced to end his football career. During this one, the native of Senlis went through prestigious clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain or Atlético de Madrid to name a few.

The tricolor international (thirteen selections) could have worn the colors of Olympique de Marseille. Whenever the opportunity arose, the now ex-attacker has opposed an end of inadmissibility. “It was not possible”he said in the show Late Football Club on Canal+ Foot.

The Marseille club notably contacted Kevin Gameiro at the start of the current decade. “It was before my return to Strasbourg, he recalls. It is not even that Strasbourg prevails, because at that time, I did not even have Strasbourg yet. Suddenly, it was a family and heart choice that made me refuse OM. »»

Gameiro wanted to preserve his children

But why did he not want to join the city of the south of France? “Partly because I played in Paris, and also because I had my children, he replied. I thought of them, and I know it is a particular context. And at 34, you may not want to want all this pressure. »»

As a reminder, Kevin Gameiro had signed at PSG in the summer of 2011. Just when Qatar Sports Investments had become the new shareholder of the capital's club, making him switch to a new dimension.
