Since his departure from Liverpool in June 2024, Jürgen Klopp has radically changed universes. The German, at the controls of the Galaxy Red Bull since January 2025, held the position of sports director of the RB Leipzig, RB Bragantino, New York Red Bulls, RB Oninya, Leeds United or even Paris FC. A role with a thousand facets, far from the intensity of a sidelines.

The former Reds coach does not plan to plunge back into the life of a coach. He confirmed this Tuesday in an interview with The Athleticwhile his name had circulated on the side of Real Madrid before the arrival of Xabi Alonso.

Klopp savor his retirement

“I don't want to work as a coach anymore. That's what I think, but we don't know. I am 58 years old. If I start again at 65, everyone will say: “You said you would never do it again!” Uh, sorry, I thought of 100 percent (when I said)! This is what I think now. I don't miss anything. (…) I have not missed anything in my life, because I never thought about it. Thus, in almost 25 years, I went to a wedding twice: mine, and the other two months ago. In 25 years, I have gone to the movies four times, all the last eight weeks. It's nice to be able to do it now. I have traveled in so many different countries as a coach, and I have not seen anything of them; Just the hotel, the stadium or the training ground. Nothing else. I didn't miss it, but now I would miss it ”admitted Klopp.

Stuttgartois now observes football with much more detachment. ” No way. I was super happy with how Liverpool behaved. I watched a few matches. But I'm not in “Ah, it's Saturday” mode. I didn't know when the matches started. I was just outside. I was doing sports. We enjoyed life, spending time with grandchildren, completely normal things, knowing that I will work again. But I also know that I no longer want to work as a coach. I have the choice now. I can go on vacation. And it is I who decides when. Well, it's Ulla (his wife, editor's note) who decides when (laughs). But it is not the Premier League or the Bundesliga that decides “He said the man to the 489 matches led on the bench of the Mersey club.
