The traditional arrival in the scooter of Nice supporters at the Louis-II stadium may not take place this Sunday (5:15 p.m.). The popular South, the main group of Aiglons fans, announced in a statement that it “Boycott the trip”believing that their rights “Are once again flouted”. This is a first in recent history of the club.

The boycott is mainly explained by the reduced number of tickets for Nice supporters. With the work, the stadium capacity fell to 12,843 places against 16,877 at the start of the season. Even if the Niçois obtained 1,000 tickets instead of the 650 regulations, this remains very below the usual 1,800 places.

The popular southern saying itself clearly undesirable: “Stade under construction, as we know, but in which we are not welcome, and we are shown once again”. The group specifies that the 600 places allocated to them “Will not be distributed” And invite the holders of the 400 other tickets to follow the movement. The 200 tickets sold for the general public sold in a few minutes.

“PitYable results”

This boycott comes after a difficult start to the season, marked in particular by the interruption of the match against Paris FC because of homophobic songs. The Aiglons had conceded a penalty and a draw (1-1). The popular South also justifies its decision by the bad form of the team: “The pitiful results of our drift team confirm us in this choice”.

This is not the first time that the group has retired. Last season, he boycotted several games after the banner affair deemed racist against OM, which had led to the closure of the southern turn for three games. This new episode illustrates that the tension between supporters and management remains very strong, while the club is struggling to chain the victories in the league and in the Europa League (three games without success).
