Since 2022, William Saliba has been indisputable in the central hinge of Arsenal. Recruited in 2019 by the Gunners after being quickly cataloged like a prodigy in its early days in Saint-Etienne, the native of Bondy is legitimately considered as one of the best central defenders in the world at the time when these lines are written. Coveted by many major clubs, his future in London was necessarily in the spotlight two years from the end of his contract. However, the news fell this Thursday: the French international (28 selections) will extend with Arsenal until 2030. Excellent news for residents of the Emirates Stadium and for Mikel Arteta, his coach, who confirmed this Friday at a press conference:

“”I hope everyone will talk about it very soon. This is what I hope. It's great to see so many players ready to stay. He is very impressive for his age, because we sometimes tend to forget it. It is his constancy and the way he matured as a person. Year after year, he built a partnership with Gabriel in particular, but also with the back line and the goalkeeper. Whenever I sit with a player and see his intentions is that he wants to stay with us. We do not take this for granted. This means that the club strives to ensure that players and staff feel useful.»»
