Ralf Rangnick, the former temporary coach of Manchester United and current coach of Austria, remains hospitalized after having contracted an infection following several ankle operations according to The Daily Mail. The 67 -year -old German had undergone a routine intervention in June, before being operated again in July for complications, then again last week in Monnau, Bavaria. He still has to receive specialized care from Johannes Gabel, a renowned specialist who worked with Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala.
Despite his difficulties in walking, Rangnick continues to follow his team with humor and determination. During the recent match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, he arrived on the bicycle field and even pedaled at halftime to go to the locker room, joking: “Walking would have been a bit long otherwise”. Since 2022, he guided Austria until the last 16 of Euro 2024 and is currently preparing qualifications for the 2026 World Cup, with 21 victories in 37 games to his credit.
