FC Barcelona will host Paris Saint-Germain on October 1 in the Champions League in Montjuic, for the second day of the Champions League League phase. The Blaugrana will however have to do without two key players in the middle, a major handicap before this shock against the reigning European champions.

The club announced that Gavi, the young Spanish midfielder of 21, will undergo an arthroscopy on Tuesday for a radial lesion of the internal meniscus of the right knee, after having followed a conservative treatment. “Pablo Páez Gavira, yesterday suffered intensive effort tests … To ensure optimal recovery and a return to competition, Gavi will undergo arthroscopy tomorrow”said the press release. This type of intervention generally requires about five weeks of convalescence, according to
Mundo Deportivo.

Fermin also lodged

Barça will therefore be deprived of the Spanish prodigy during the reception of PSG, just like Fermin López, also affected by the left psoas-iliac during the reception of Getafe this Sunday (3-0 victory). Its unavailability is estimated at three weeks.
“The player of the first team of FC Barcelona Fermín López suffers from a muscle injury to the left psoas-iliac … The duration of his absence is about three weeks”indicates the club.

Faced with PSG, Barcelona will therefore have to find solutions to maintain her balance in the middle. Pedri and Frenkie de Jong will be responsible for hosting the creation, while the rotation options of the bench will be scrutinized closely.
