José Mourinho has not yet been officially appointed Benfica coach, but he has already made his first decision in this position-and the latter should not appeal to his former club, Chelsea.

Mourinho was dismissed by Fenerbahçe last August after the team's failure to qualify for the Champions League. His negative game was criticized by President Ali Koc.

But this legendary figure is about to make an immediate return to football via Benfica. Following the dismissal of Bruno Lage, the LisBotian club quickly mobilized the former coach of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that an agreement was almost finalized.

Antonio Silva in Chelsea blocked by Mourinho

Mourinho's first gesture on his return to Portugal will be to prevent Chelsea from recruiting the central defender Antonio Silva, a player followed for some time.

TeamTalk reports that the blues scrutinized the 21 -year -old for a possible transfer in January to strengthen their defense, affected by injuries, but Mourinho is ready to block any transfer.

“According to some sources, Chelsea may have to accept that Silva is out of reach, the defender being likely to become the cornerstone of any rise,” says the site.

Antonio Silva was a talent revealed during the 2022/23 season, but after causing a sensation at the start of the season, he had trouble maintaining this solid reputation.

Indeed, the current form of the 21 -year -old is questionable, after a nightmarish appearance in the Champions League against Qarabag on Tuesday. Benfica led 2-0 at home during this meeting, but had to bow 3-2, largely thanks to the collapse of his defense. It was Bruno Lage's last match at the head of the team.
