Two matches, two victories: Spain launched its qualifications perfectly for the 2026 World Cup. On the road to Bulgaria to start, La Roja won 3-0, chaining three days later with an even more impressive victory in Turkey (0-6).

With six points on the clock after these first two matches, the European champions already have a foot in the United States and could validate their ticket for the next World Cup from the next international window since Luis de la Fuente's men will welcome Georgia and Bulgaria.

However, a serious threat weighs on the presence of Spain at the 2026 World Cup. Spokesperson for the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, head of the country since June 2018, Patxi López indicated that the Roja could boycott the US World Cup if Israel was qualified.

Israel in bad shape

“We will assess the situation in a timely time”,
He said, opening the door to a boycott from Spain. For the Spanish government, the sports world should indeed act in the same way as it did with Russia after the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

And the World Cup is not the only threatened event since the RTVE public channel recently announced the withdrawal of Spain at the next edition of Eurovision in CA with the presence of the Hebrew State.

A qualification of Israel for the next World Cup remains very hypothetical. While they have three games to play, ES Israelis occupy third place in their group, six points from Norway and on the same line as Italy despite one more match. Only the first of each group is directly qualified, the second having to go through the dams.
