Some incidents broke out in Madrid before Real-OM, but Spanish security claims that the match will be able to be played well.

The Spanish capital had agitated hours on Tuesday, as the shock approaches between Real Madrid and Olympique de Marseille. While the meeting is classified “at high risk” by the Ministry of the Interior, some clashes broke out on the sidelines of the Marseille procession. First echoes raised fears of a possible postponement of the match, but the local authorities were reassuring.

Helps quickly controlled

According to the Spanish press, limited altercations took place near the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the afternoon, involving certain Phocaean supporters and the police. Supervised by a massive device – nearly 2,000 police officers mobilized – the incidents were quickly circumscribed. A total of 4,000 Marseille supporters are present in the city, including around 900 ultras.

There is no historical rivalry between Real and OM, but the reputation of Marseille ultras in Spain encourages vigilance. The police are particularly afraid of possible confrontations with Madrid groups such as ultras on. Strict identity and ticket checks were therefore imposed.

Real – OM, a match that should be held

For the time being, no postponement scenario is envisaged. The atmosphere remains festive, even if the tension remains palpable. Except for a new major incident, the meeting should take place at the Bernabeu, under close surveillance.
