It is with a New Look group that theOlympique de Marseille will present itself at the Vélodrome to face FC Lorient, this Friday (kick -off at 8:45 p.m.). Moribonde before the international break, the Roberto de Zerbi team was reshaped in large widths.
Perceived as the weak point of OM last season, the defense was considerably strengthened. Three very experienced players settled in Marseille on the last day of the transfer window: the Italian left side Emerson Palmieri, the Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd and Benjamin Pavard, the French international capable of playing in the axis or on the right side.
Nayef Aguerd, one of the Recruits of OM.
A nice list to which is added the arrival of midfielder Matt O'riley to compensate for the brutal departure of Adrien Rabiot. It is therefore with an unprecedented eleven that OM will resume current affairs in Ligue 1.
OM vs Lorient: de Zerbi is spoiled for choice
Two questions arise. The first concerns animation. The return of injury by Facundo Medina, combined with the last signatures, radically changed the situation for Roberto de Zerbi. Will the Italian keep his defense at 4? The hypothesis of a defense at 5 with two pistons cannot be excluded. The trend would be continuing at the moment, but Leonardo Balerdi, in great difficulty, could pay the price for the new competition.
The second question obviously concerns the choice of men. In the middle and in attack, Roberto de Zerbi can also rely on a multitude of possible combinations. The Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang frames are expected. Igor Peaceão is back, but Hamed Junior Traoré, relevant to Lyon, could continue.
The expected composition for OM : Rulli – Murillo, Pavard, Aguerd, Medina – Vermeeren, Gomes – Greenwood, O'riley, Traoré – Aubameyang.
