Chelsea, the heavy accusations

Chelsea is at the heart of a scandal in the Premier League! The English Federation (FA) accuses the London club of having violated its regulations 74 times between 2009 and 2022. These offenses would mainly concern relations with agents, work with intermediaries and third party investment in players. Practices strictly supervised by the FA.

According to the press release published by the English football body this Thursday, the majority of violations would have occurred during the 2010-2011 and 2015-2016 seasons, while the club was held by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovitch. As a reminder, the Russian billionaire was obliged to sell the English club in 2022, at the start of the war in Ukraine.

If these accusations are confirmed, they could lead to significant sanctions for the club. Fine, withdrawal of point or prohibition to recruit, many sanctions risked by Chelsea.

Chelsea meets the accusations

In response, Chelsea published a press release on its website in which the club stresses it itself reported the infractions to the FA in good faith. “During a process carried out before the finalization of the purchase, the owner group became aware of the existence of potentially incomplete financial reports concerning historical transactions and other potential violations of the rules of the FA”, Can we read.
