Roberto de Zerbi had to account after the defeat of Olympique de Marseille against Olympique Lyonnais (0-1) this Sunday in Ligue 1. for this first Olympico of the season, the Marseille coach chose not to align Amine Gouiri alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, contrary to what he had faced with Paris FC (5-2).
At a press conference, the Italian technician justified this choice. He notably mentioned a physical reason.
Gouiri was not at the top
“If Amine has not played, it's a physical choice. I have not seen it in great shape this week. That's all, it happens. You can't be all the time at the top of your physical condition. We felt that Aubameyang, Traoré and Nadir could do better ”said RDZ.
Result of the races, Gouiri did not play the slightest minute. A partly scenario dictated by the expulsion of CJ Egan-Riley before half an hour of play, which forced the vice-champions of France to evolve in inferiority during the majority of the meeting.
