“I kept silent for much of the summer, but a few hours before the end of the transfer window, I feel the need to clearly say that I want to leave Brentford. I think that the club is undoubtedly hindered, despite several reasonable offers received throughout the summer. (…) Earlier this summer, I had open discussions with club management, including certain directors and the new coach. I clearly expressed my intention to explore a new challenge. During these exchanges, me and my representatives were confirmed, that the club would not hold me back if a reasonable offer was formulated. This was also confirmed in writing. Based on this commitment, I looked for a new club, holding Brentford informed in all transparency at each stage. I received a formal offer from another Premier League club and communicated my wish to join him. According to all my discussions with Brentford, I thought there was a mutual agreement to separate. However, as the transfer window approaches, the club suddenly changed positions, in contradiction with what had been agreed. I thus find myself in a difficult and frustrating position. The promise to let me go this summer was not held.
