The more the hours go by, the more the end of the (short) adventure between Olympique Lyonnais Georges Mikautadze approaches. While the first rumors of a possible departure from the former FC Metz had been rushing for a few days, things suddenly accelerated and now, the attacker seems straight to go to the Liga where Villarreal awaits him. Hard blow sporting for OL.

The interest of the “yellow submarine” had been revealed by several media at this weekend. This Friday, foot transfer window announced that a “Total agreement” had been found between OL and Villarreal concerning the transfer of Georges Mikautadze. The specialized media spoke of around thirty million euros. This amount was therefore validated by the Lyon management after a first refusal on a lower offer.

A bad scenario from the strict point of view of the field for Lyon, especially since the Gones have a shock scheduled for this weekend against Olympique de Marseille (Sunday, 8:45 pm). Coach Paulo Fonseca announced this Friday that Georges Mikautadze would be good, but the Portuguese also knew that everything could happen by then. According to FM, Mikautadze is expected incessantly shortly in Spain to pass the traditional medical examination.

OL will have to act quickly

The player had already discussed with Villarreal and had agreed in broad outline, on a long -term contract. While he was supposed to take over an Alexandre Lacazette who left this summer towards the Saudi club Neom, Georges Mikautadze will not have had time to raise the challenge.

For Olympique Lyonnais, there will now be an urgent need to recruit a replacement for the starter. Several names have already filtered among possible tracks, such as the attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte. The twenty -year -old Argentinian international is currently evolving in Brighton. The Lens striker, Martin Satriano, is also cited.
