Alessandro Florenzi says stop. At 34, the Italian international, passed by Paris Saint-Germain, announced this Wednesday, via a long message on Instagram, which he ended his professional career after the last three seasons under the colors of AC Milan.

“It was beautiful, even very beautiful. Lands behind the containers to the Olimpico. From the football scala to Wembley … You were my biggest challenge, you taught me to exceed my limits, never to abandon. (…) Remember that in the end, football is a game. Play every match as if it were the last. Play for the badge on your chest, not for the name behind your back ”,
he posted.

Not champion with Paris … but with Italy

Trained at AS Rome, Florenzi has become one of the symbols of the club in the Italian capital, with nearly 300 games played in the Gialloosso jersey. After a visit to Valencia then to PSG during the 2020-2021 season under Thomas Tuchel then Maurico Pocsettino, he left in Paris the image of a reliable and hardworking player, author of 2 goals in 36 appearances, punctuated by a semi-final of the Champions League disputed with the Parisians, but no title of champion of France.

European champion with Italy during Euro 2021, Florenzi leaves football with a solid track record and the unanimous respect of his peers. In his farewell message, he also wanted to thank “each teammate, coach, member of the staff and manager”, as well as all those who work in the shadows “.

The rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee suffered by Alessandro Florenzi in July 2024 clearly pushed him to make this decision at an age at which others of his club and selection comrades are still running.
