The sudden disappearance of the Diogo Jota Foundation arouses heavy suspicion of scam. As reported The Telegraphthe website supposed to collect donations has mysteriously disappeared overnight. Since Friday morning, the URL “https://diogojotafoundation.org/” has only a blank page.
This foundation had been launched only three days after the tragic death of the striker of Liverpool and his brother André Silva in a road accident. She had already collected more than 55,000 euros (47,715 pounds) before closing. Donations were accepted only in cryptocurrencies, via an external platform, which guaranteed a shipment “In complete safety”.
Even more disturbing, The Telegraph reveals that no link existed between this platform and the family of players or Liverpool. The site, however, displayed the logos of the Reds, but also of Unicef, Allianz or the Portuguese NGO. Three of these organizations confirmed to the English media not to have
“Never heard of this foundation” nor worked with her.
An official program launched by Liverpool
The British Charity Commission, responsible for regulating charity organizations, has also confirmed that she had received no registration requests.
