In 2023, Jakub Jankto had hit the headlines by doing his
come out On social networks, a first for an active professional football player and above all a member of his national selection. The Czech midfielder, trained at Udinese and passed by Ascoli, Sampdoria, Getafe, Sparta Prague and Cagliari, was a pioneer from this point of view.

At 29, Jankto decided to hang up. It has a priori nothing to do with any problem linked to the revelation of his sexual orientation, which is good news. This is unfortunately a physical problem – recurrent ankle injuries – which pushed the one who wore 45 times (4 goals) the jersey of his country to say stop.

Objective: get closer to his son

“I received many messages asking me if I was continuing my career. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The reason is simple. The ligaments of my ankle are irreparably damaged. I tried to overcome this and to hold on last season. The key point was still the possibility of being able to see my son more often. We only have a life and I also wanted to get closer to him by returning to Prague ”Jankto posted on his Instagram account.

Jakub Jankto should soon take care of the U7 team in Dukla Prague, one of the clubs in the Czech capital. His son was born from his union with the model Marketa Ottomanska in 2021, two years before he talked about his homosexuality and his decision to reveal it to the world of football.

Before him, among the internationals, the German midfielder Thomas Hitzlesperger (52 selections) had come out in 2014, but he was already retired from the land.
