Frank McCourt arrives in Marseille this weekend, on the sidelines of the meeting between OM and Paris FC, announces Provence. Originally, the arrival of the American owner had above all to be used to mention fundamental files: the club's financial trajectory, medium -term development projects and sports ambitions for future seasons. In short, an almost classic displacement in the Bostonian calendar.
But the news has changed everything. Because it is difficult to imagine McCourt in Marseille without having to decide on the file that ignites the Canebière: the one around Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe. The two men were put on the list of transfers by the management of the club and coach Roberto de Zerbi.
Full confidence in Longoria?
McCourt, who is not a man to advance without calculating the impact on the image of the club, generally trusts Pablo Longoria, which he delegates sports decisions. But the particularly anxiety -provoking context and likely to weaken OM in this season which was promising, however.
This trip, planned as a management stage, therefore takes on the appearance of a crisis theater for the American. Decision making is expected with regard to “the Rabiot affair” and it will set the tone for the Marseille strategy for the next few months. More than a simple visit to Marseille, it may already be a pivotal moment of the season and the future in the short term for the Phocaeans.
