Lukaku, the bad news

The Romelu Lukaku season could not start worse. Standing in the friendly match between SC Naples and Olympiakos (2-1), last Thursday, the Belgian was the victim of a serious injury.

The Italian club indicates in a press release that the medical examinations carried out revealed a significant tear in the femoral right muscle of the left thigh. A surgical consultation should take place in the coming days, thus suggesting that the attacker may need an operation that would extend the duration of his absence.

While the duration of its unavailability has not yet been communicated, the Italian press argues that the Belgian could be far from the field throughout the first part of the season. A big blow for the Napoli, who must quickly find a solution in order to be able to replace it.

Lukaku could be excluded from the lists

While Antonio Conte was counting on the Belgian this season, the injury of Romelu Lukaku forces him to review his plans. After recruiting Lorenzo Lucca last July, Serie A champion must now find another striker likely to replace his injured player. For this, Naples must carry out certain administrative procedures.

According to SKy Italiathe leaders examine the possibility of excluding the Native of Antwerp, temporarily, from the official lists. Indeed, since the list of “over” players, of which Romelu Lukaku is part, is full, his exclusion could thus release a place. This would then recruit an additional player.

The club would therefore reflect on a recruitment of a “under” player, that is to say born after 2003. While the Serie started in a few days and the transfer market ends soon, Naples must quickly find a solution.
