Ligue 1 officially resumed its rights. For the second match of the first day, Olympique Lyonnais moved this afternoon to Bollaert this afternoon to face an ambitious RC Lens in front of a closed window stadium.

From the start, Lens displayed their intentions. Sang and gold imposed a sustained rhythm, pressing high and dominating possession in the first quarter of an hour, forcing Lyon to defend and back down. Little by little, the Lyonnais found their bearings and began to balance the meeting, while remaining vigilant in the face of the rapid transitions of the Lensois who maintained the tension.

The first period concluded on a sustained pace and a very disputed game. Lens has multiplied the opportunities, but the Lyon defense remained solid. Lyon finally found the fault just before the break: Malick Fofana delivered a superb ball in Mikautadze, which concluded for the 1-0 (45+1 ′), allowing the Gones to return to the locker room with this minimal but precious advantage.

Thauvin, a promising return

In the second period, Lyon took control of the match, imposing its technique and multiplying the offensives. Lens never gave up and continued to be dangerous, but without succeeding in framing his strikes. Andy Diouf saw his attempt pushed by Rémy Descamps (56 ′), imperial in his cages.

Florian Thauvin, back in Ligue 1 in the 57ᵉ minute, showed all his determination, but his dribbles have often been hampered by the Lensoise defense. The fast counters hosted the end of the match, and despite some hot situations on both sides, Lyon has retained its advantage and won 1-0, leaving Lens frustrated but combative until the final whistle.
