The Julienne Frioul-Vénétie lived a summer placed under international spotlights with the European Super Cup, disputed this Wednesday evening at the Stadio Friuli between Paris Saint-Germain, winner of the Champions League, and Tottenham Hotspur, winner of the Europa League. From the end of July, the region had put itself in the colors of the event, thanks to a collaboration between promoturismofvg, the region, the municipality, the Italian federation and UEFA. From Gorizia to Trieste, from Grado to Lignano Sabbiadoro, then to Udine, the tour of the three prestigious trophies had attracted thousands of curious and enthusiasts, often present from the opening to immortalize the moment and set out with the gifts offered to the first arrivals. In each city, inauguration ceremonies and the presence of ambassadors athletes, such as the cyclist Olympic champion Jonathan Milan, had helped give this “trophy experience” a friendly and unifying atmosphere, reinforced by spectacular installations like giant balloons and the four -meter -high trophy on Piazza San Giacomo.
“This is an extremely important event, followed by 22 million viewers during its previous edition, and which will make Julienne Frioul-Vénétia shine around the world. Choosing Udine to accommodate the final of the European Super Cup 2025 between PSG and Tottenham is to recognize the quality of our facilities, the logistical centrality of the region and the vast know-how, especially in terms of security, developed over the years by the whole of the institutional and regional system for the organization of events of this scale: a recognition of which we are very proud. Finally, there is the football competition, with two world class clubs in competition, whose best players will participate in a match that will remain forever in the sports history of Frioul-Vénétie Julienne “said Massimiliano Fedriga, president of the Frioul-Vénétie Julienne region. The whole city has prepared for this event with spectacular visual installations, in particular giant balloons in the colors of the competition, to strengthen visibility and local craze.
A tailor-made program
In Udine, the UEFA Fan Festival has well animated Piazza Libertà on August 12 and 13, transforming the heart of the city into a vast celebration space combining sports, games, concerts and activities for all ages. The supporters of PSG and Tottenham each found their base camp – respectively at Paro Moretti and on the Piazza Primo Maggio – where catering, DJ sets and thematic animations will maintain the fervor until kick -off at 9 p.m. this evening. The streets and places in the city will vibrate to the rhythm of the songs, and the participation of regional clubs and athletes carrying the brand “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” made it possible to radiate the local identity with a cosmopolitan audience. The first days of festivities had already shown a strong craze, the events displaying a record crowd and a joyful atmosphere, confirming the success of the mobilization of local actors.
Beyond the match, the Super Cup had been thought of as a cultural and tourist showcase for all Julienne Frioul-Vénétie. Thanks to the program “Match ticket = cultural passport”, ticket holders and their guides had benefited from discounts in a wide selection of museums and emblematic sites, from the Aquilée Basilica to the Château de Gorizia, passing through the Park of the Château de Miramare. Free audioguides had been offered for several cities, while Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado had offered their own summer promotions. This synergy between sport, culture and tourism had made it possible to energize the whole region, leaving behind an impression of unity and opening, and confirming that the European Super Cup 2025 had been, long before kick-off, a party already won for the Julienne Friuli-Vénétie. On the occasion of the Super Cup, the municipality of Udine also offered shops, restaurants, public establishments and personal services a unique visibility opportunity: appearing on the Promoturismo FVG hospitality page, towards which the official UEFA site will redirect spectators.
All local companies that have completed the dedicated form before July 31 (contact details, activity category, services offered) can promote their offers from thousands of visitors and ticket holders, thus strengthening their presence and attractiveness during this international event: “Udine is preparing to host a major international sporting event and we want the whole city to be a key player. Companies play an essential role in the reception. With this initiative, we want to enhance them and give them the opportunity to come into direct contact with the many visitors who will flutter in Udine during the Supercoupe“Said the deputy mayor Alessandro Venanzi. To avoid overflows, the police chief, Pasquale Antonio de Lorenzo, obtained from the Ministry of the Interior the provision of around 1,000 agents, including at least 600 foreigners to the region. The specialists necessary to ensure maximum security will include deminers, riot agents and helicopters equipped with video systems and night vision glasses. The match was classified at a very high risk by the Italian and international authorities. UEFA announced that it has sold 6,600 tickets to French supporters and 4,700 to English supporters.
