Eden Hazard was the guest of Zack Nani in his program “Zack in a free wheel”, Friday evening, from his home in Belgium. Retired at 32, the former star of Chelsea and Lille notably confided in what is sometimes accused of the attackers, namely the absence of defensive efforts. He himself had to deal with these criticisms during his career in Lille, Chelsea or Madrid.
He totally assumes having had this mentality on the field where the attack was the essence of his game. And in his eyes, he was not the only one to think in this way. He notably quoted his former teammate in Real, a certain Karim Benzema.
âI did not do anything tactically on the ground, but it was more the defensive aspect (which bothered me, editor's note). Sometimes you boycott a little because you have to boycott. Good players, they boycott the defensive tasks (smile) a little, everyone knows it. Tell me a good player who does not boycott defensive stuff?
Karim Benzema? I played three years with Karim. He also boycott, I tell you huh. It may not be going to tell you. But he does the minimum and I was doing the minimum too â.
Dembélé would be a bluffer?
As for the visible efforts made by a player like Ousmane Dembélé with PSG last season, Hazard wanted to qualify.
The pressing in every sense of DembĂ©lĂ©? It is the coach who puts you in a mentality like that. 'Dembouz', I saw him this year, he also boycotted, huh. There are two or three matches where he came back to defend, but I saw where he did not want. And as he scored two goals, people have forgotten. â
Dembélé may soon imitate Benzema, with a golden ball to his credit, which Eden Hazard has never managed to win despite his immense talent.
