Despite the surprise departure of Iñigo Martínez to Al-Nassr, FC Barcelona does not intend to strengthen in central defense. According to the Catalan press, Deco and the sports management have decided to maintain their summer plan: no recruitment will fill the vacuum left by the 34 -year -old Spaniard. A strong decision, while Hensi Flick loses an experienced player whom he considered the potential future captain.
The club prefers to bet on its internal resources, notably with Cubarsí, Eric Garcia, Araujo or Christensen, to occupy the central hinge stations. This firm position is also explained by the need to reduce the wage bill in order to record the reinforcements already present.
