The Lyonnais are far from being rid of their former president. Forced to resign while the club was under the threat of a relegation in Ligue 2 by the DNCG, John Textor continues to be talked about on the side of the RhĂ´ne, and unfortunately it is never in the right way.
OL OL but also of Botafogo, the American multiplied the exchanges between the two clubs during his presidency in Lyon. But coup de theater: the former president of the Gones claims no less than 73 million euros from OL. According to him, certain transfers, which he himself led, have been harmful to his club in Botafogo.
Indeed, in a press release published at the start of the week, Botafogo management said it has financially helped the club to its expense. But that's not all, new revelations add fire to the powder.
OL involved in a false transfer?
A few months ago, Eagle Football revealed that OL held the economic rights of three players from Botafogo, including Luiz Henrique, who has never worn the colors of Olympique Lyonnais. Indeed, the attacker was directly transferred to Zenith Saint-Petersburg, allowing OL to collect 33 million euros.
But the case of Luiz Henrique is not isolated. Brazilian media
Globo Indicates that John Textor had also studied the possibility of transferring Jefferson Savarino. The former President of Lyon would have bought the player in March in March for 7.6 million euros to anticipate a potential recruitment prohibition. A situation that strangely recalls that of Thiago Almada, loaned to OL despite the sanctions of the DNCG.
However, Jefferson Savarino did not come to Lyon despite the interest of John Textor. The player reveals that he preferred to stay in Brazil: ” From the start of the year (2025), I was offered to leave, but I decided to stay in Botafogo (…) Last month, July 15, I had to make the decision to go to Lyon and decided to stay in Botafogo. It was a family -made decision, and now I'm here in Botafogo ”.
The least we can say is that the revelations about the mismanagement of John Textor follow each other and follow one another. See you at the next episode …
