Summer has not yet delivered all its soap operators, but in Marseille, a burning file has just closed. Very coveted since the start of the transfer window, Mason Greenwood found itself at the heart of an insistent interest from Saudi Arabia. The Al-Nassr club, on direct impulse of Cristiano Ronaldo according to Marca, had checked the name of the Olympian striker as a priority target. An offensive prepared in the shadows … but which will ultimately have no effect.

Greenwood remains at OM, despite the Saudi millions

OM's response was firm, unambiguous: Greenwood is intransferable. The club quickly cut off the speculation and Saudi attempts. According to Provenceit is now placed at the center of the project, in the same way as Leonardo Balerdi. His status as a co-manner Ligue 1 scorer last season (21 goals) makes it an untouchable figure in the Roberto de Zerbi system. And this choice is not only economic: it is sporty, strategic and symbolic.

Faced with the sums mentioned in the English press – up to € 100 million – the Olympian management has not trembled. For Medhi Benatia and Pablo Longoria, giving Greenwood would be like weakening the project as a whole. After a successful season and a qualification for the Champions League, the objective is clear: maintaining the dynamics, not taking vouchers. Greenwood, under contract until 2029, will therefore remain on the CanebiĆØre.

Greenwood – OM: Saudi Arabia leaves empty -handed

A strong decision, a clear message

This firm refusal sends a strong message to the contenders: OM is no longer a default seller club. As a key season approaches, with high ambitions in Ligue 1 as in Europe, the stability of executives is a priority. Greenwood embodies this assumed turn, against the current of an often unpredictable market. And even the pressure of Cristiano Ronaldo was not enough to influence the Marseille position.

The fact remains that the future could be written otherwise. Next summer, with a new European shopping season, Greenwood could attract the eye of English cadors. For the moment, the time is for consolidation. But in the medium term, OM will undoubtedly have to face new requests. And this time, the conditions will be different. For the time being, Marseille has kept its gem. The rest will be played on the field.
