Paris Saint-Germain has drawn its broom and intends to clean up before the end of the transfer window. Parisian leaders have drawn up a black list of players deemed undesirable and launch a vast degreasing operation. A purge which does not say its name but which testifies to the will of the club of the capital to optimize its plethoric and costly workforce.

Nine PSG players asked to leave

The names are now known: Donnarumma, Kolo Muani, Asensio, Soler, Mukiele, Housni, Renato Sanches, Kimpembe and Tenas. Nine players with different profiles but who share the same destiny: they no longer enter the plans of Luis Enrique. Some like Donnarumma are subject to an endless soap opera, others like Kimpembe have been living a ordeal for two and a half years.

The output tracks are increasing for this wave of departures. Kolo Muani attracts the lusts of Juventus and Premier League clubs, Asensio Lorgne to Aston Villa, Soler to Villarreal. Even Tenas, relegated to the rank of fourth goalkeeper after the arrival of Renato Marin, is the subject of an interest in Celta de Vigo according to the Spanish press.

PSG: Behind the apparent calm, a muscular degreasing

The art of selling well for a big club

This degreasing operation illustrates a truth of modern football: a big club must know how to buy as well as to sell well. PSG, despite its flourishing financial health after its historic conquest of the Champions League, understood this need. Lightening the payroll and offering a tightened group to the coach becomes a strategic priority.

This large Parisian clearance sale also responds to the hard law of professional football. Some players no longer enter the sports project and must give way. Time now is running out: in a week, PSG will face Tottenham in European Super Cup with a still uncertain workforce. Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will have to accelerate to complete these files and offer Luis Enrique the serenity necessary to approach this new season.
