The return of the European championships promises to be busy. In eleven days, Ligue 1, the Premier League and La Liga will resume their rights. While French football will open with a shock between Rennes and Marseille, on August 15, other important posters are looming on the continent. Among them, the capital match of the OGC Nice as part of the 3rd preliminary Tour of the Champions League against Benfica, impatiently awaited by the Nice supporters.

For Nice, this confrontation is a crucial meeting with the aim of qualifying for the prestigious Champions League. And in the event of a victory, the gym will face in play -offs, either the Dutch of Feyenoord, or the Fenerbahçe. However, two days before this decisive meeting, a major point is controversial: the total absence of broadcasting of the match in France. It is the web platform, Solidsport.com, which will offer the double confrontation between Nice and Benfica, at 7.95 euros per game.

This lack of dissemination is all the more criticized as it coincides with an aggressive strategy on the part of Canal +, historic diffuser of the Premier League in France. On August 15, the day of the resumption of Ligue 1 with the Rennes-Marseille duel, Canal + will freely offer in clear the opening match of the English championship between Liverpool and Bournemouth. An initiative seen by many as an attempt to brake the launch of Ligue 1 +, a new official broadcaster of the French championship.

Riolo's anger

Daniel Riolo did not hide his annoyance in the face of this situation. On the social network X, he strongly denounced what he describes as sabotage. “So Nice Benfica Person diffuses. Ok. Canal puts a PL match in front of the L1 recovery in Gratos. Ok. Canal and bein do everything to plant the launch of LFP+. Ok. Otherwise? No nothing was just to be sure that everything is fine ”he writes.

A blow both for Nice and for Ligue 1+. Canal+, exclusive broadcaster of the three European cuts, will not start its season until Wednesday August 13 with the European Super Cup between PSG and Tottenham, before offering free from 9 p.m. the inaugural match of the Premier League. For its part, the new LFP platform will have to count on the hearing of the first match, whose kick -off is scheduled for 8:45 pm, to win in the face of this competition.
