PSG is fixed. The capital's club is preparing to launch its 2025-2026 season by facing Tottenham on Wednesday August 13 on the sidelines of the European Super Cup, an annual meeting between the winner of the Champions League and that of the Europa League. A first meeting at stake, since it is an official trophy.
The match will be played in Udine, Italy from 9 p.m. A match that the Parisians will approach after only a week of collective preparation. For their part, the Spurs of Tottenham emerge from a successful European campaign, crowned by their success in C3, and one month of preparation. This shock therefore promises to be open, despite an express recovery for the men of Luis Enrique.
UEFA also formalized this Wednesday the referee of the meeting: it will be the Portuguese João Pinheiro, 37 years old. International referee since 2016, he has already managed 68 European competition games, even if he only officiated 7 times in the Champions League, including 5 last season. And it will not be a first for him with PSG.
Present against Inter Milan
João Pinheiro knows the big meetings well. He was fourth referee in the last Champions League final won by PSG against Inter Milan on May 31 (5-0). He also officiated many classics in Portugal, between Benfica, Porto and Sporting.
In Stadio Friuli, he will be assisted by his compatriots Bruno Jesus and Luciano Maia. Azerbaijani Elchin Masiyev will be the 4th referee. The Portuguese Tiago Martins will be responsible for video assistance (Var), with its compatriot Fabio Melo and the Dutch Pol Van Boekel as assistants.
